Scrapbooking as much as possible, but sometimes getting distracted by birthdays and life!

Woohoo! First post!

So I am taking my first class from Online Card Classes. The timing must never have been right to take one from them because the cost is very low ($16) and the classes are taught by Jennifer McGuire ( and Kristina Werner ( who are both amazing card-makers and whose blogs I’ve followed since I discovered the wonderful world of blog-stalking. They invite a number of other card-making talent as guests – it’s been just amazing what I’ve learned and I’m at least a day behind!

The class is called His & Hers and the idea is that you can use similar things (designs, products, colors) to make cards for guys that you do when you make cards for women (why is there no good “cool” word for us women-folk?)

And while I created my blog over a week ago, I’ve been having trouble with Photoshop Elements (my go-to photo-editor) so I haven’t posted anything. But now I’ve re-installed PSE and it seems to be working so here are two of my creations:

This was a hers card I created during Papertrey Ink's anniversary celebration.

My original card is based on a card by Cristina Kowalcyk ( I can’t seem to find the link for the contest at Papertrey or the card on Christina’s blog – sorry about that!

I adapted my card to a guy friendly version with different washi tapes

I used PTI Think Big Favorites #13 Stamp set and Inks from Close to My Heart for both cards. The feminine card uses My Mind’s Eye The Sweetest Thing Lavender “Reasons Why” Decorative Tape and Paper and the masculine one uses washi tape from the same MME collection, plus one from We R Memory Keepers and one other tape in the middle (I overlapped it in the middle), wood veneer stars from Studio Calico and Smooch Silver Pearlized Accent Ink.

So, I think I’m pretty happy with using what I’d learned in class to make a fairly quick and easy card that a guy would not be embarrassed to receive! What do you think? Did I make it guy-friendly enough?

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great day!
