Scrapbooking as much as possible, but sometimes getting distracted by birthdays and life!

Yesterday, May 4th, was National Scrapbooking Day and there were lots of challenges all over the web to celebrate and provide inspiration!

I really liked this one from the Scrap Our Stash Challenge Blog: NSD Celebration

To qualify for this challenge I chose to use: Ribbon, Washi Tape, Twine, Bling and this sketch from Rochelle Spears:

I will also be entering it into the Big Picture Classes Creative Crop Challenge #4: Use a sketch to create a multiple-photo layout. (

Now for the details of how I did it! I absolutely loved the fun shiny wavy blue paper and thought it would be perfect for Erin’s fish which has a lovely blue crepe paper covering. Then following Rochelle’s sketch, I worked on what would be the photo mat. I cut the parentheses out of the light blue paper and lined the paper behind the cuts with photo tape covered in Charcoal twine from the Twinery. I also put lengths of washi tape from Cavallini & Co. along the sides to fill in the gap between the base paper and the light blue “photo mat” paper. I used the pink with dots washi tape to adhere the photos to the photo mat.

Next, I had a ball working on the clipboard! I used the SVGcuts School Days kit ( with my Silhouette Cameo and the Designer Edition software. I changed the scale of the clipboard (which was from the Extras folder) to fit my project and cut the clipboard out of a cereal box, the paper has a grid pattern and was a file from my printer (HP – English grid paper) and the clip was cut from silver paper in the Recollections Precious Metals paper stack. I used a Kaisercraft rub-on and a K&Company pink gem. I am so happy with how it turned out! Miniature stuff can make me so happy!

I used Whisper White Taffeta ribbon from Stampin’ Up! as the border between the photo mat and the blue wavy paper, then I propped the photo mat up on 3M Foam Mounting Tape and stuck a stickpin from Close To My Heart’s Bling Assortment into the twine. The title letters are from Little Yellow Bicycle’s Head of the Class collection.

I was a little worried that all the different items I used along with the wavy paper would make this LO too busy, but I think it turned out OK since the color scheme is pretty calm and the pictures are not too detailed.

What do you think? Are you ready to go out and make lots of tiny clipboards? I’m thinking there might be a whole lotta cards with clipboards holding the greetings in my future!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I’d love it if you could leave me a comment below! Have a great week!
