Scrapbooking as much as possible, but sometimes getting distracted by birthdays and life!

Worth their weight in gold!

Are you blessed with wonderful friends? Do you often feel like you just can’t do enough to thank them for all the ways they support and encourage you?  I have friends like this. They are so awesome that sometimes I take them for granted or don’t spend the time to thank them properly for being there for me, for being generous and thoughtful, you name it – they deserve a big pat on the back. The least I could do is make a pretty thank you card. So that’s what I’m sharing today. I hope they enjoy the card as much as I enjoyed creating it!

I'm actually showing you my card before all the details! Don't you feel special?

So, of course, I used challenges to inspire me and believe me there was lots of inspiration out there! Here are a few I decided to tackle for the card I’m sharing today and how I approached them:

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Embossed (always a good idea for making a card more special looking. I used gold embossing on the sentiment lines)

Colorful Creations – Favorite Things – Use one of your FAVORITE NEW PRODUCTS! Tell me what it is in your post. GO OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE! Do something on a page you haven’t tried before. Tell me what it is in your post. (I really love the Moroccan Stencil from the August Simon Says Stamp Card Kit and I wanted to use it for a kind of background to my card. I decided to use it with my Distress Stains – I used Mustard Seed in the middle and overlapped Barn door on each end to give it a little bit of orange then used Irisdescent Gold Glimmer Mist over the top and patted the whole thing down with a cloth to blend even more – I really think it turned out great. I’m so glad I tried this!)

Scrappin ‘n Chattin Yahoo! Group – September Card Challenges – Anything Goes

All That Glitters is Gold Challenge at Moxie Fab World (I used gold embossing and gold glimmer mist for a really lovely, rich look! I just love how it shines – see for yourself:)

It was slightly overcast when I took the picture, but I think it's a very pretty look!

It was slightly overcast when I took the picture, but I think you can still see the effect.

I was inspired and so very pleased with the result! I hope whoever I give this to feels as pleased! They definitely deserve to feel as special as they are!

Materials I used:

Cardstock is from Stampin’ Up!

Stamp and wood veneer is from Close to My Heart

Ink is Versamark

Embossing powder is from Clearsnap

Stencil is from Simon Says Stamp

Distress Stain from Tim Holtz

Mist from Tattered Angels

Sequins from Whimsical Twist

adhesive from Glue Dots and Xyron

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you’ll leave a nice comment to let me know you were here. Maybe I should be making you a thank you card ;-)!
