Scrapbooking as much as possible, but sometimes getting distracted by birthdays and life!

OK, so maybe a boy playing a computer game doesn’t sound like a reason to cheer, but if you knew the whole story you might see it differently. My son is on the autism spectrum. Now if you know anything about Autism, you probably know that when they talk about spectrum they mean really wide and diverse spectrum. So my son has a very mild form of Autism called Asperger’s Syndrome. For him, mostly it effects his ability to concentrate at school, his understanding of social situations, his sensitivity both physically and emotionally being increased, his small motor abilities (writing legibly is very challenging for him) and his ability to be comfortable without lots of structure. So what do a game and these challenges have to do with each other, read my journaling and you might have an idea why I feel good about him playing this game!

It’s challenge time over at The Creative Cutting Challenge and this time around the theme is For the Boys! You might know me well enough by now to know that my heart is happiest when I can scrap, so that’s what I did!

My son loves to play on all sorts of devices. He’s got an iPod Touch, a Nintendo DS and 3DS, and he uses the Wii and desktop computer for gaming, too. I have taken pictures of him using his favorite devices because otherwise I might not have many pictures of him, LOL! Thankfully, since I’m on the Design Team The Creative Pointe provided me with a file to use for this challenge and I was able to create a layout using The Computer Card file!

Computer Card PV

I just used the computer without the card and shadow. The page design and some of the photo editing was inspired by one of my son’t favorite games: Minecraft. This game has a very distinct look, with a grid of different shades of colors on the objects, so I printed off some digital papers in different shades and cut them into squares to create the background and edited three photos to look gridded, too. I am really excited about how it turned out. I hope you enjoy!

Minecraft-Full

MinecraftTitle-detailI stamped on a number of the grid squares and on the keyboard of the computer to add some extra interest and texture. When I was looking for papers I worried that the grid would be too busy, so I decided on a very subtle texture for the papers, but after I set everything up I realized the papers needed a little something more. I was so glad to have stamps that worked with this theme.

I sure hope you’ll join along For the Boys using any SVG files you might have! I can’t wait to see what you create!

Thanks for stopping by! I really appreciate your kind and encouraging comments! Have a great day!
