Scrapbooking as much as possible, but sometimes getting distracted by birthdays and life!

If only I had a brain!

This is the story about a layout that took quite a long time to create. Do you ever have that happen? There was a lot of story behind it, but I hadn’t taken any pictures to go along with it, so I didn’t get started on it when I was working on all the other layouts for this trip. I’m happy to say that with the wonders of Google Images I was able to get this story told with some pretty amazing pictures to provide eye candy.

I really loved this sketch from My Scraps & More :

I saw the large piece going up on the left of the photos as an opportunity to do all my journaling. I loved all the layering and shapes in this sketch, too, as well as the idea of long lines of photos and elements going both up and over with the circle as a turning point.

Here’s my layout (with pictures of the airports that I hi-jacked from Google Images:

I am using Basic Grey’s Kioshi collection for this album. I love the springy colors and the lovely florals in this collection. Perfect for our trip to Washington, DC during the time when the cherry blossoms were blooming!

If you click on the layout image you can see a larger version of the layout and read the journaling and understand the blog post title and title of my layout. This was in 2010 when we didn’t have smart phones and wi-fi was also not that common in public places, like the airport (otherwise I could have pulled up the info we needed on  my hubby’s laptop…) I’m so thankful for the conveniences of modern life! It certainly would have saved us a whole lot of headaches in 2010, but at least some of those conveniences have allowed me to tell the story of what happened with some wonderful pictures!

I’m so glad you stopped by! I hope you have a lovely day! And feel free to share about a layout that you’re struggling to get created. Personally, I’ve got a stack of them!

  1. Great story and love all the journaling you did. I’ve flown into Dulles and honestly didn’t even know it looked like that so loved your pictures. thats a great idea that you added the DC quarter to the layout.

    • The part of the story that I didn’t include is that I really wanted to see this airport (had learned about the architect in college) and it was great going from Terminal 1 at O’Hare which has a fabulous interior to Dulles whose exterior is wonderful…Ah, the things my family has to deal with because of my interests, LOL!
