Scrapbooking as much as possible, but sometimes getting distracted by birthdays and life!

More Halloween fun!

Hi, there! I’ve got another fun project using files from Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons for you today! I realized when I was going through my pictures for the other two layouts I’ve shared this month that I loved so many more pictures from this Halloween that I hadn’t gotten onto a page. They weren’t the most amazing pictures ever, so a low-key, simple layout was in order. What I ended up deciding was to put a pocket page between my two other layouts and, as I often like to do, I decided to use papers that were from the same collection as the other pages. I made my own cards (three for the title and one for journaling) and Lisa’s files were so much fun for that! Take a look:

OaA Full

I created four cards as print and cut and also print and cut the word “about”. I added embellishments on top as well as 3 more layers in black of the word “about” to give it some extra depth and interest. I embellished with some spider webs and part of a moon all cut from vellum, as well as some bats. Here are some detail pictures:

I got the idea for the sequin eyes on the skulls from a design team member’s project – I think it’s a very fun, eery look!

The moon can lift up so you can see the picture of the scarecrow more clearly, if you’d like to.

I used the Notebook Pages Cutting Files for the journaling block

and the Halloween Critters Cutting Files for the spider webs.

For the patterns in the cards I used Halloween Pattern Pack 2

Hall-Pattern-2and Halloween Bats & Swirls

Hall-Bats-&-Swirls

and Halloween Plaid Grid for the journaling card pattern. That’s something I love about this particular set (and why I bought it) I’m in love with gridded papers, especially for journaling! And these bright colors make me feel so very happy!

So in the category of projects that seem like a great idea, but don’t turn out how you’d hope, we have the other side of the pocket page:

OaA_BsideConfettiI had really hoped it would turn out better, especially the confetti spot. It turns out that in order to really get some movement in that spot, there needs to be some space for the pieces to move around. I like how the print and cut pieces turned out and I did add some of those pieces to the pictures, also, but the overall effect of the confetti wasn’t what I’d hoped for. I printed the pieces onto photo paper so they would be shiny, like I would expect all these candies to be. You might recognize the candies from the Candy Bucket Cutting Files:

I love that there are so many different ways I was able to use the files I’d gotten from the shop. And I’m sure I will find many more ways to use them in other Halloween projects!

For challenges, you should be sure to enter your Halloween creations in the Trick or Treat challenge, the last day to enter is the day after Halloween!
