Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons, Pretty Happy Mother’s Day!

(If you’re looking for the Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons Oh, Snap! blog hop – click here for my post!)

Hi! I couldn’t have a post today without paying tribute to all the moms out there, whether you have a human baby/child or a fur baby, moms do so much to care for others – they all deserve a big hug, especially today! My mom is my crafty inspiration! She is an amazing crafter who has done so many different things over the course of her life – I have very fond memories of so many of her crafty creations!

So, it’s my day to share a project over at the Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons blog and I couldn’t resist using Lisa’s Mother’s Day Cards Cutting Files along with my mom’s favorite color (purple)! Here’s what I created:

And, yep, I thought it’d be fun to make it a shaker card – I will admit, that idea would have been easier to accomplish if I would have cut the background oval the same size as the sentiment oval, but I was able to get it to work and voila, a celebration of Mother’s Day that is even more fun, hehe!

Here are some detail pictures:

And here’s a picture of the sequins when the card is lying down:

Well, I don’t want to keep you from your Mother’s Day celebration. I hope you’re enjoying a wonderful day!

Happy crafting! (And if you didn’t see the blog hop from yesterday, be sure to check that out, starting at Lisa’s blog! Lots of inspiration, a free cut file and some blog candy are available!)

I’m entering the Stuck on U Sketches Die cut Challenge: Mothers and the Simon Says Stamp Simon Says Let’s Get Sentimental challenge.

I used: Patterned paper and gems from Bo Bunny, Sequins from Doodlebug Design, Pretty Pink Posh and Whimsical Twist, Ribbon from May Arts and Adhesive from ScrapPerfect, Snaketape and Zig.

Cute Cake Card!

MaggieB-dayCloseup

Hi! Thanks for stopping in! I’m here to share the card I created for my niece, whose birthday is just a few days before Christmas. I like to try and make her day special by sending a gift and card in the mail. I usually see her on Christmas Day, but I think it’s nice for her to have something that helps her feel special on her birthday!

This is my design team post for Pretty Papers, Pretty Ribbons and I thought the cake shaped card found in the Birthday Panda Cutting Files was super fun, so I created my niece’s card with that.

I embossed some of the more plain papers, added some inked edges, colored a little, added some pearls and bling and very quickly I was done! I’ll be entering this card into the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge : Bling it On!

Quick and easy, but hopefully also something that will add some joy to my niece’s day.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you have lots of energy and inspiration to get everything you were hoping to get done for Christmas checked off your t0-do list!

I love to hear what you have to say, so please feel free to leave a comment below!

I Want Candy! (a Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons Layout)

I want candy! Thankfully, I’m blessed with a son who’s trying to sell The World’s Finest Chocolate to raise money to go to the state capitol with his class, so I’ve got more than I need right now. But what if you’re an 11 year-old girl and it’s Halloween? You might come up with awesome Halloween costumes and go to a friend’s house to meet up, have a photo op and then head out to round up (and devour) lots of candy! Wait until you see what these girls came up with!

The other thing I am thankful for? Super sweet files from Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons! I am so excited to be a part of the team and have a budget to buy the perfect files for my projects!

Why don’t I show you what I mean?

Did you notice the awesome Candy Corn paper in the background (along with all the other coordinating papers) from the Halloween Collection Pattern Pack 2...

And the super cute Cotton Candy that I did as a print and cut because it was just what I wanted for showing off what my daughter dressed up as in this picture?

And the fun eye ball candy from the Candy Bucket file as a print and cut?

And a speech bubble for my title:Speech-Bubbles-Cut

And how I was able to use coordinating colors for other parts of the layout (background and text fill) from the Halloween Flourish not to mention the Halloween Bats and Swirls papers?

Perfectly adorable, huh?

Of course, having a DT project due is great inspiration for scrapping, but added to that was the Scrappy Friends October Challenges and this awesome sketch from Brenda Ragsdale:

Brenda R Sketch Challenge

Look familiar, hehe? Then the challenge at Rochelle Spear’s blog was tic-tac-toe:

I used 4 + patterned papers, orange and die cut(s). And for Kelly Holifield there was a fun word challenge:

I used Candy in my title and costume(s) in my journaling.

And if you’re the challenge-loving, Halloween-celebrating type, you’ll want to be sure to play along with the Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons Trick or Treat Challenge that’s going on. Check out all the details here! And if you didn’t see the hop and all the goodies associated check out the Pretty Paper Pretty Ribbons blog (or my post yesterday) to get started!

Other fun stuff that I used on my layout:

Cardstock: Bazzill, Wausau; Printer and Ink: HP; Cutting machine: Silhouette Cameo; Spray Ink: Clearsnap; Ink: Tsukineko; Jewels: Bo Bunny; Sequins: Doodlebug Designs, Pretty Pink Posh; Wood veneer: Studio Calico; Pens: American Crafts, Kuretake; Font: AddamsCapitals; Adhesive: American Crafts, Glue Arts, Glue Dots, Imaginesce, Zig.

If you think you’d like to me to do a tutorial on how I use the digital papers to fill my cutting files or how I work with sketches in the Silhouette software, please be sure to leave a comment below letting me know that and I’ll see if I can get a post going for that soon. I am planning on sharing how I use Evernote to organize my design team projects as well as the challenges that I follow. I am trying to work out how to get a screen shot to share here – once I figure that out, I’ll be sharing.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you’re having a great day and decide to spread the good feelings by leaving a nice comment below! It’s guaranteed to make me smile!
