Scrapbooking as much as possible, but sometimes getting distracted by birthdays and life!

Falling into a pattern

Yep, I’m finding that once I get started with these print and cut projects I have a hard time stopping! The story behind this one is I was originally trying to use my stash (good girl, right?) as well as using cutting files from the Pretty Papers, Pretty Ribbons store (very good girl, especially since this was a design team project, LOL!;-) Unfortunately, the files and papers didn’t play well together for the really small elements and I had to scrap the project until I figured something else out, or my allowance came! (I get a monthly allowance from Lisa to shop in the Pretty Papers, Pretty Ribbons store [awesome, right?] and while I was purchasing the files for yesterday’s project I realized the answer to my problem was to use the patterns and do print and cut for this one. Perfection!) I love the results and hope you (and my hubby) do, too! Oh, yeah, this was an anniversary card from punny me to my very good-natured hubby (pun not intended – natured…!)

Super cute, right? I just loved this squirrel! You can find him in the Nuts About You Cutting Files. Yep, and this is perfect for me because I am nuts..about my hubby and puns and fall and our anniversary is in fall. Crazy perfect, right?

I also used the Tri-Fold Shutter Card Cutting Files because I love interactive cards and I have to apologize for all the photos, but I just love all the different little nooks and crannies to play with on this one! Oh, and I used the Pumpkin Spice Pattern Pack 2 and Pumpkin Spice Falling Leaves for the patterned papers and to pull some of the colors for the leaves on the oak branches.

More crazy, fun pictures:

Aren’t all the layers and ins and outs so much fun! These cards have a lot of Wow potential and really make you look like you’ve got mad crafting skills! Gotta love that! I used the Silhouette Printable Cotton Canvas for a lot of the cuts for the wonderful texture it adds.

The perfect sentiment!! <3!!!

And here’s how it looks when it’s flattened out-ish.

Of course, there’s a little bit of room for me to thank my hubby for putting up with my puns all the time. You wouldn’t believe how many fall puns I have come up with over the years…

Some business, I’ve also posted over at the Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons blog today (a lot more short and sweet there!) There was a blog hop yesterday with a freebie and possible blog candy, so be sure to see the post on that blog from yesterday, too. And that hop was the start of the Fall Challenge. You’ll find all the details over at the monthly challenge post. I sure hope you’ll play along! There are so many possibilities with this!

So, a big thank you to Lisa for saving my marriage (or at least feeding my need for nutty sentiments for anniversary cards!;-)

I hope you are having a great day! Thanks so much for stopping by! I always love to hear your thought about my project (as long as it’s nice) so please leave a comment below to make me smile!

Happy crafting!

Ruth

P.S. These cut files are available in the Silhouette online store (squirrel #68605, oak branch #68604, nuts about you sentiment #68603). Sadly, Silhouette didn’t include the squirrel in the fall themed sale (huh? sometimes I wonder), but some of Lisa’s other designs are included if you want to stock up for 25% off!

Fall Entertaining Blog Hop (or Blog waddle?)

Blog Hop Graphic(sq)

Happy Saturday and welcome to my blog! If you came here from Nicole‘s blog, you are in the right place.  If you just stumbled upon this post and would like to start from the beginning, please visit the Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons blog.

Today the Design Team is sharing Fall Entertaining projects using Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons files. These are items that could be used for a Fall or Thanksgiving get together or dinner. The team has some awesome and inspiring projects to share today, so be sure to check them all out! For me and my family, Thanksgiving means heading to the in-laws for some amazing Thanksgiving feasting! I am so very thankful for all the preparation and wonderful food (the best stuffing and yeast rolls that ever were) so my project is focused on hostess gifts.

Lisa recently added the Bottle Tag 1 Cutting Files to her store and it was just what I needed for my project. Of course, I couldn’t just stop there. I wanted wonderful patterns and textures and a fabulous sentiment and embellishment, so I also used the Pumpkin Spice Pattern Pack 2 and Pumpkin Spice Falling Leaves for the patterns, the So Very Thankful phrase from the Silhouette store (Design ID# 68943 also found in the Thankful Pocket Cards in the Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons store), as well as the pumpkin group from the Silhouette store (Design ID#67500 also found in Pumpkin Patch Cutting Files in the Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons store).FEH_TreatDet

In addition to my bottle tag, I wanted to create some treat holders for my niece and nephew, so I used the same digital patterns with the Fancy pillow box (Silhouette Design ID#68610 and Fancy Pillow Box 1 Cutting Files) along with a tag from the four layered tags (Silhouette Design ID#64351 and Layered Tags 1 Cutting Files) and the turkey from turkey with pumpkin (Silhouette Design ID#68272  and also from the First Thanksgiving Cutting Files) as well as a Speech bubble (Silhouette Design ID#62870 and Speech Bubbles Cutting Files.) I know I used a lot of files from the Silhouette store, but since I have a subscription, I like to use it when I can. A tip for making print and cut creations really quick and easy as pie (yum, pumpkin) is to use the files from the Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons shop because they include PNGs and JPGs of all the images, especially if lining images is something you’d rather skip.

The blog candy for this hop is a $15 GC to the PPPR store (oh, yes, there is more than just candy corn on this hop!) For a chance to win, you must be a follower of each blog and leave a comment on each blog.
