Well, hello! I hope this day finds you well and enjoying your summer! I’ve got a layout from our Spring Break getaway to Georgia to visit with family and enjoy some warmth and sunshine. We were very blessed and really had a wonderful time.
We were visiting with my brother-in-law, Ken, who lives in Savannah and he took us to Tybee Island our first full day there. The sand, sunshine and laid back atmosphere were just what we needed after the long hard winter we had just survived!
As is usually the case, it was fun to take a look at challenges when I was getting ready to scrap this page. To begin with is the sketch, which comes from Paper Secrets July1st Sketch challenge and was created by Kelly Holifield:
I love multi-photo sketches and especially liked the different sizes of photos and the angled lines of stars in this sketch. Why don’t I just show you what I did with it:
I just love having the two smaller pictures that my daughter took on the layout! They are awesome and I’m so thankful she shared them with me!
Since I adapted the sketch to use one long photo, instead of two on the right and one die cut element instead of the second photo on the left I’ll able be entering this into the Yahoo! group Scrappin-n-Chattin July challenge for a 3 photo layout.
As it so happens, Paper Secrets was teaming up with Scrap & Play for this challenge so I’ll be entering their challenge also:
I had fun with completing the SPLASH part of these challenges. This is my SPLASH:
S- Sun (rays in the background at the top of the page, camera flair in the selfie and also in the “O” in the “On Beach Time” sign)
P – Parenthesis (around the word “getaway”)
L – Landscape photo (two ways – one with that orientation and the other a literal picture of the landscape)
A – Arrows
S – Sand (I used Ultra Fine Flower Soft sand on the word “beach” in my title)
H – Hearts (wood veneer hearts near my journaling, the selfie and the title)
I also used some of those items to qualify for the Scrap our Stash Challenge #16 ~ Let’s Go Shopping!
From the shopping list I used:
- Striped Paper (sun rays in the upper part of the layout, as well as the strip that ran through the middle that you can see behind the “getaway” die cut)
- Arrows (one die cut and two paper clips at the tops of the photos)
- Wood veneer (the hearts)
- Journaling card (upper right corner)
- Die cut (the background sun rays and waves are from 4 season’s layout: summer by Lori Whitlock, the “beach” arrow and “on beach time” sign are print and cut files from Simple Stories, “getaway” is from Kerri Bradford Studio’s This + That Summertime)
- Sequins (yellow and blue located in spots around the page – can you see the ones I tucked under the curls of the waves? I thought it would be a nice way to add some shine and dimension there)
Do you have a favorite way of sharing your beach memories? I’d love to hear about that in the comments below (or tell me if something I shared inspired you for your next layout.)
Thanks so much for visiting and I hope you have a wonderful day (maybe with lots of sunshine or sand in your toes!)
