Scrapbooking as much as possible, but sometimes getting distracted by birthdays and life!

Point of the Game

I will admit. I went to see The Hunger Games: Catching Fire last night with my daughter, some of her friends and couple of their moms and had a great time. The problem is that we got home at 1 am and my brain is just not feeling all that clever today. I hope I don’t bore you with this blog post…thanks for bearing with me!

I’m always looking for quick and easy ways to get more scrapbooking done. One of my favorite ways of doing that is by using sketches. I don’t always have a single picture in mind for scrapping, but I did have one of my daughter when she was on the 8th grade volleyball team last year and then I saw this sketch at Artful Delight:

ADNovember layout sketchand I have to admit when I saw the circle in the background I thought of volleyball and the one horizontal single photo I was wanting to scrap. Happiness!

Here’s my layout:

I used the Bella Blvd Making the Team collection (I just love the bright colors, great patterns, the fact that they have volleyballs in the collection AND that one of their colors is our middle school’s color – bright blue! Score!)

I had a LOT of fun with my Silhouette Cameo just cutting files (the volleyball, the photo frame, the award ribbon and the notebook page) as well as designing the title block within the software! I had the AC Do it Yourself Thickers that had the varsity style of font so I based the scale of the title block on the size of those letters and went from there.

Here’s a detail shot – you can probably read the journaling here:

PointOTG_detail_webI chose not to include the girl’s name who Erin is talking to, just for privacy. I usually write on the back of my layouts about who created the layout and when and I’ll probably put her name there as well as where the game was being played for future reference.

I don’t know the company that made the buttons, but I thought they would add a nice bit of dimension and color. The glitter is also a mystery. I just know it is super fine and the perfect color, which is why I bought it to begin with.

Other details: cutting files from Silhouette store for the ticket shape as well as the above-mentioned shapes, cardstock from Close to My Heart, velvet paper from SEI, Zig pen, adhesive was from Scotch, Xyron and Zig, fonts that I can look up if you really want to know. Ask me about that in the comments and I’ll get back to you.

I was so happy the sun was shining today so I had good lighting for these pictures! It’s been overcast or rainy since last Friday with only tiny glimpses of sunlight so it’s a welcomed change of pace!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you have a fabulous day! Be sure to make my day brighter by leaving a nice word or two in the comments section below!
