This is my first blog post for Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons in 2015! Woohoo! And I’m here to celebrate ringing in the new year! I have a fabulous friend (the one who keeps me walking the straight and narrow roads of our village) who hosts New Year’s Eve at her home every year. She and I became friends when our daughters were in preschool and what I love about this party is that everyone in the family is invited to come! So no sitter needed when the kids are younger and now that they are older they can hang out with their friends like they would want to and we all just enjoy the wonderful company and awesome food and drink!
So my friend is all about bling! She adores everything that shimmers and shines, so I did what I could to create shine for the hostess gifts I gave to her. Check it:
I used silver foiled cardstock, shimmer cardstocks for the white and black and some of the gold and the Silhouette Gold Foil for the shiny gold. The files I used are: Bottle Tag 1 Cutting Files, New Year Title Cutting Files, and I really felt like Kendall Jackson would look good with a mustache so I used the Old Chap Cutting Files to cut one for him ;-)! And I designed the sentiment to have the confetti hanging off the edge – I just love how that turned out!
Nobody paid much attention to the tag until I started taking pictures (I thought the pictures would be better with the right atmosphere!) Then I got the questions about why I was taking pictures and the comments “I thought you bought that”, which just makes me smile and proves that Lisa really does a great job designing these files. I, of course, have tons of fun playing with them!
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and got to ring in the New Year in your favorite way! I still have some cards to address (got most of them out before Christmas, but put off doing all of them so that I could take care of the gifts for Christmas), but got to visit with all sorts of wonderful family and friends.
Wishing you a whole lot of happiness and creative time in the coming year! Thanks so much for visiting! I hope you’ll stop in again soon and I hope you’ll make my day brighter by leaving some kind words in the comments.
I’ll be entering these projects into the StuckOnUSketches Anything New Year- Die Cut challenge
P.S. Found these glittered flowers at my local grocer and created my own bling numbers to add some more festive glam! I’m so happy with how this turned out. I used the shimmer white cardstock on the front and the back is covered in shimmer black. The inside of the numbers were stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with Glitter Gold Zing Embossing powder. I had to choose between bright lighting to show off the shimmer or atmosphere and chose atmosphere. Hopefully you’ll take my word for it about the glam!
Enjoy your year!
